Pregnancy after stimulation with clostilbegit. How to take clostilbegit correctly to stimulate ovulation
Time of ovulation after taking Clomiphene in different women may differ, since Clostilbegit does not cause rupture of the follicle and the release of the egg directly, but only stimulates its growth and maturation. The usual start of a course of the drug is 9 days before planned ovulation. This is necessary in order to have time to drink for 5 days, plus there are still a few days left for the endometrium to grow.
On what day of the cycle does ovulation occur after Clostilbegit?
"Clostilbegit" is a hormonal drug, the main active ingredient is clomiphene citrate. It stimulates the maturation of the follicle(s), acting on the ovaries and pituitary gland in such a way that the production of FSH and LH increases. This promotes follicle growth.
The date of release of the egg depends on the dose of the drug, the rate of follicle maturation in a particular woman and the characteristics of the cycle (early or late ovulation). If the concentration of Clomiphene is insufficient or if it is not suitable, anovulation is possible.
The drug does not stimulate the rupture of the follicle itself, such as an injection of hCG, but is responsible for the growth and maturation of the dominant follicle. It has an indirect effect on ovulation.
As soon as the follicle grows to a size of approximately 18-24 mm, a mature egg is released. This usually happens on the 12th – 16th DC in a 28-day cycle.
Important(!) Stimulation of ovulation is carried out under. This is necessary in order to see the starting indicators: the size of the follicles, their number, the thickness of the endometrium, etc. The body’s reaction to the drug is also monitored - at what speed the follicles and uterine epithelium are growing and whether they have reached a size sufficient for ovulation.
Standard course of taking Clostilbegit for conception
Usually, the doctor determines start of the course approximately 8-10 days before the expected date of follicle rupture and egg release(YAK). This is done in order to have time to drink the entire course and still have about 5-7 days left before ovulation (for example, to build up the endometrium, if you need the drug"Proginova" ). Everything is purely individual and depends on the specific case.
If, for example, your menstrual cycle is 28 days, ovulation presumably occurs at 14 DC. Start taking the drug at the 5th DC.
Note(!) The start date of taking the drug is determined by the long follicular phase. If the cycle is shorter than the reference one, the start day is adjusted to the personal duration of the first phase, that is, it begins not on the 5th, but on the third day. And, conversely, with a cycle of 33 days, stimulation with Clostilbegit is prescribed from the 9th to 11th DC, again after ultrasound monitoring.
The usual course of taking Clostilbegit is 5 days, 50 or 100 mg daily in one or two doses.
Everyone has their own problems, for some people stimulation helps them get pregnant the first time, for others it doesn’t, your main advisor is your doctor. And if you have questions about the prescribed course, do not hesitate to ask your gynecologist about all the appointments.
What is the best time to drink Clostilbegit?
A drug you can drink before and after meals. The only important thing is regularity and equal intervals between doses.
As for time, it is best to drink Clostilbegit before bed. This is done in order to make it easier to bear possible side effects:
- drowsiness;
- pain in the ovaries;
- nausea;
- hot flashes and others.
If you have already started the course of the drug at a different time of day, continue to adhere to equal periods of time.
When when the doctor prescribes two tablets a day, that is, 100 mg of Clostilbegit– what’s better, splitting them into morning and evening doses or taking two tablets once a day? The best option is to ask your gynecologist. Women are prescribed both in different situations.
A single dose is easier to follow, but an increased therapeutic dose causes more powerful side effects (not for everyone).

A two-time dose requires more care, since a 12-hour break must be observed, however, in complex cases (for example, PCOS and others), this regimen is more preferable.
Do not prescribe Clostilbegit yourself
A gynecologist or reproductive specialist must evaluate the woman’s situation – medical history, concomitant diseases, the reason for which the drug is prescribed. It is quite natural that dosage, start date, day of ovulation and additional medications differ for many people. Different organisms, different problems.
Important(!) Before stimulating ovulation, in order not to put unnecessary stress on the ovaries, the doctor excludes other possible:
- examines the spermogram;
- excludes sexually transmitted infections: chlamydia, trichomoniasis, ureaplasma and others;
- evaluates a woman’s hormonal levels based on tests. In case of violations, it makes sense to first adjust the hormones and, perhaps, pregnancy will occur on its own;
- refers to diagnostics of tubal patency;
- makes sure that there is no ovulation for three or more cycles in a row (using folliculometry). Or there is reason to believe that the egg is of poor quality.
Clostilbegit is a powerful hormonal drug. It can cause ovarian hyperstimulation - this, for example, is one of the most serious complications during IVF. Therefore, while taking the medicine, medical and instrumental supervision is MANDATORY.
Preparations based on Clomiphene can be used for a maximum of six courses in a lifetime. Otherwise, you can easily experience premature ovarian depletion - early menopause.
Why drink Clostilbegit during normal ovulation?
In search of an answer to this question, I reviewed many reviews and comments from planning women. Here is how different gynecologists argued for the use of Clomiphene:
- when everything is in order with the tests (hormones, patency, spermogram, ovulation), but pregnancy never occurs – it is assumed that there are problems with the quality of UC. Additional stimulation will help to grow an egg that is more capable of fertilization and normal further development of the embryo. By the way, YAC matures in 90 days and is used to independently improve its quality;
- You can increase a woman’s chances of successful conception by stimulating the development of not one, but several follicles at once. After Clomiphene, there is a possibility of multiple ovulation and, accordingly, multiple pregnancies;
- in the IVF protocol, for example, stimulation is performed in order to grow as many follicles as possible and get maximum amount oocytes for puncture;
- when using assisted reproduction methods, such as IUI (intrauterine insemination), to increase the chances of successful conception in this particular cycle;
- "Klostilbegit" tends to accumulate its stimulating effect. Especially if ovulation occurs, but not often (for example, in women after 35 years). This means that you can get more spontaneous ovulations in the future.
"Klostilbegit" and excess weight
According to clinical trials, the drug causes weight loss or gain in every thousand to ten thousand women who took Clostilbegit. In other words, the likelihood of significantly improving after stimulation is small.
There are reviews of women who recovered after several courses, but this side effect can be easily neutralized by simply replacing harmful products with more useful ones.
This is interesting(!) Good news for everyone who loves to eat. It has been absolutely proven that to get an ideal body, it is not the quantity of products that is important, but their quality. It is important not to starve! Hunger only makes you stressed and then makes you eat even more. Instead of a piece of cake, eat porridge with nuts and dried fruits. Instead of pizza with sausage - porridge with salad and meatballs.
If you need to lose weight, do not fall for shock diets that promise quick results in a short time. A lack of vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats and carbohydrates is much more harmful to pregnancy than excess weight itself.
Does Clostilbegit work if you are overweight?

It all depends on how many extra pounds you have. According to research, a BMI of 30 or more almost completely reduces reproductive function. In this case, you may not even be accepted for IVF.
If the BMI is from 25 to 29, Clostilbegit may well work (there are reviews of women who ovulated as a result of stimulation and those for whom the treatment did not help).
At the same time, gynecologists advise losing 5-10 kg to increase the likelihood of UC and reduce potential risks for the mother and fetus. It can be:
- development diabetes mellitus pregnant;
- termination of pregnancy due to a large amount of male hormones;
- tachycardia, hypertension, etc.
Signs of ovulation
When stimulated by Clostilbegit, the most common sign of the onset (and approach) of ovulation is ovulatory pain.
Many women write that during stimulation, ovulation cannot be missed precisely because of the more severe pain syndrome.
From experience(!) Even without stimulation, I very clearly determined the moment of the onset of the best period for conception precisely by the pronounced pain. Sometimes “No-shpa” was even required. And this is with one dominant follicle.
Clomiphene very often stimulates the maturation of not one, but several follicles at once. Accordingly, before ovulation there will be a noticeable pressing, bursting pain in the ovaries, and pain from rupture and release of follicular fluid.
After the course of treatment, ovulatory pain is not as pronounced.
The best guideline (and mandatory for stimulation) is folliculometry. The doctor will accurately determine whether ovulation occurred, and if not, how many and what size are the dominant follicles.
HCG injection during stimulation with Clostilbegit
An injection of hCG is needed to initiate the rupture of a mature follicle and the release of an egg. As soon as ultrasound monitoring shows sufficient follicle size (20-23 mm), the hCG injection starts the ovulation process. Yak will be released in the next two days after this.
If you do not administer hCG drugs, then the following development of events is possible:
- Ovulation will occur;
- The follicle will not rupture, but will begin to slowly regress (deflate);
- The follicle will continue to grow, over 24 mm in diameter, and eventually turn into a cyst.
The doctor makes the decision to inject hCG during the course of stimulation (according to growth dynamics), as well as based on previous experience (whether this woman has had cases of cyst formation in the past).
From reviews: If an ultrasound shows a large dominant follicle that has already grown to 23-24 mm, the doctor prescribes an hCG injection so that the follicle does not develop into a cyst, but ovulates.
If There was ovulation, but pregnancy did not occur after stimulation– usually the course of stimulation is repeated in the next cycle or with a break, it all depends on concomitant diseases.
Progesterone support after Clostilbegit
The drug affects the viability of the corpus luteum, its ability to produce progesterone. Therefore, very often in a cycle with Clomiphene stimulation, the doctor prescribes additional progesterone support - Duphaston or Utrozhestan - after ovulation has occurred.

Standard course from 16th to 25th DC. If you have late ovulation (after the 14th DC), then the start of support is the day after the follicle ruptures (visible on ultrasound) for 10 days. Then, at 11 DPO you need to take a pregnancy test and stop progesterone if the result is negative.
Pregnancy the first time after Clostilbegit with statistics
According to a survey, pregnancy in the first cycle of stimulation (including with Clostilbegit) occurs in approximately every fifth planning woman.
On the second cycle of stimulation with or without a change in pattern (or a break after the first cycle), conception occurs in 10% of cases.
On the third cycle of stimulation (or rest, if a break is scheduled for the third cycle), approximately 6% of those planning to become pregnant.
Conception occurred several months after stimulation in 5% of respondents. About 60% of women never became pregnant.
In other words, in In the first 3 months from the start of stimulation (including after Clostilbegit), approximately every third woman becomes pregnant. In general, the success rate from using stimulant drugs is 40%! This is a very good and encouraging indicator.

Clostilbegit is a medical preparation based on synthetic non-steroidal estrogen, which stimulates the ovulation process in a woman. Initially, this medicine was created for contraception, but since 1967 it began to be used to induce ovulation. The drug has a number of side effects and restrictions on use, so before using Clostilbegit, you need to undergo a full medical examination and obtain a specialist’s opinion.
Compound
Clostilbegit is considered a very strong gynecological drug belonging to the group of antiestrogens. Its active ingredient is clomiphene citrate. Even in a small dosage, the drug significantly enhances the secretion of gonadotropins, which is effective for stimulating ovulation in women and suppressing androgen deficiency and oligospermia in men.
Clostilbegit is an artificially created non-steroidal estrogen, similar to the natural one produced by the female body. It occupies estrogen receptors for several weeks, unlike estradiol, which does this for only a few hours, which explains the effectiveness of stimulation.
After administration, Clostilbegit is well adsorbed, metabolized in the liver and excreted through the intestines within a week. Thus, it indirectly stimulates ovulation in women, while activating the physiologically normal menstrual cycle.

Ovulation stimulation
Stimulation of ovulation with hormonal drugs is carried out only if the gynecologist diagnoses “absence of her own ovulation”, while the woman does not restore her own ovulation. This drug artificially provokes the possibility of fertilization for a certain period, during which it is quite possible to become pregnant.
Treatment with such drugs is carried out only after a comprehensive examination. Particular attention is paid to finding the cause of disruption of natural ovulation, which may consist, for example, in abnormal levels of thyroid hormones, adrenal glands, etc. In some cases, the equalization of hormonal imbalance resumes the correct processes in the female body, and conception can occur without stimulation.
For patients who have a regular menstrual cycle, stimulation is prescribed on the 5th day of the cycle or on the 3rd, if ovulation is early. With amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), treatment is possible on any day of the menstrual cycle, and with anovulatory infertility (lack of ovulation in the cycle), it all depends on the sensitivity of the ovaries.
Stimulation with Clostilbegit according to the first scheme should be carried out for 5 days at 50 mg per day under direct clinical control or laboratory testing. In this case, ovulation should begin on days 11-15 of the cycle, but if this does not happen, then you need to move on to the second scheme.
In the second course, the dose is increased: from the 5th day of the next cycle, 100 mg per day for 5 days. If after this the expected ovulation does not occur, then the scheme is applied for another cycle.
After another failure, it is best to stop taking the drug for 3 months. After this time, treatment begins again with the first regimen. If after 2 courses of treatment according to both regimens the drug did not produce any results, then subsequent treatment with it is impractical and ineffective.
Do not exceed the doses prescribed by your doctor in order to achieve the desired goal. The total dose of the drug during one course should not exceed 750 mg.
If a woman is diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, then treatment should begin with 50 mg per day, as there is a possibility of hyperstimulation.
In the absence of menstruation due to long-term use of contraceptives, you need to undergo a five-day course of treatment with Clostilbegit 50 mg per day. Usually such a course gives results after the first attempt.

Clostilbegit: pregnancy with anovulatory infertility
In approximately 5% of cases, fertilization of a woman’s egg does not occur even after 12 months of regular sexual intercourse without the use of contraception. If the cause of infertility is the lack of ovulation, then the doctor may prescribe Clostibegit and pregnancy is highly likely to occur after completing the course of taking the drug.
To understand how effective Clostibegit is, you need to understand how it works. This medicine, like all others, has its indications, contraindications and side effects. Since it affects hormonal levels, it must be used strictly as prescribed by a doctor.
Indications for prescribing the drug
Taking Clostilbegit is possible only if indicated. These include:
- Dysgonadotropic form of amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation due to impaired production of gonadotropic hormones.
- Anovulatory infertility is the inability to conceive due to lack of ovulation.
- Postcontraceptive form of amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation after discontinuation of hormonal contraceptives.
- Secondary amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation for six months or longer for various reasons.
- Chiari-Frommel syndrome is a complex of symptoms in which lactation does not stop for a pathologically long time, menstruation is absent and the genitals atrophy (prolonged postpartum amenorrhea-galactorrhea).
- Polycystic ovary syndrome is a disruption of the endocrine system, accompanied by the absence or irregularity of ovulation.
- Galactorrhea is non-puerperal breast milk production caused by a pituitary tumor.
- Oligomenorrhea is a condition in which the interval between menstruation is more than 40 days.
- Androgen deficiency is a deficiency of sex hormones.
- Oligospermia is an insufficient number of sperm in a man.
Clostilbegit is widely used in the treatment of infertility caused by lack of ovulation. But before prescribing the drug, it is necessary to undergo an examination confirming the cause of difficulties with conception.
Preliminary diagnosis
Clostilbegit stimulates ovulation, so in case of infertility it is prescribed only to women in whom it is impaired. The cause may be endocrine pathologies or other factors that remain unclear. The purpose of diagnosis is to exclude other pathologies that can interfere with conception.
Treatment with Clostilbegit will not bring results if:
- according to the results of the smearogram, deviations were identified;
- according to the results of hysterosalpingography and metrosalpingography, obstruction of the fallopian tubes was determined;
- according to ultrasound, disorders in the condition of the endometrium were identified: polyps, endometritis, endometriosis, injuries and scars;
- spontaneous ovulation is absent due to decreased thyroid function (hypothyroidism) or increased levels of prolactin (a hormone that stimulates breast growth and lactation). Read more about the normal prolactin level in women→
It is also worth eliminating errors in identifying anovulation. Before making a diagnosis, several ultrasound scans should be performed over at least 4 cycles. You cannot rely only on basal temperature measurement charts and the results of rapid tests to determine ovulation.
How does the drug work and does it help you get pregnant?
How are Clostilbegit and pregnancy related, why do the chances of conception increase when taking it? The drug belongs to non-steroidal drugs. Once in a woman’s body, it binds to estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus and ovaries.
Small doses of Clostilbegit enhance the production of gonadotropic hormones (follicle-stimulating and luteinizing), as well as prolactin. As a result, ovulation is stimulated. The growth of the follicle is activated and the egg in it is actively maturing, ready for passage into the fallopian tube and fertilization.
But when the recommended dose of the drug is increased, the opposite effect occurs. A sharp decrease in estrogen levels inhibits the secretion of gonadotropins. Therefore, Clostilbegit must be used strictly according to the regimen recommended by the doctor. The dosage is determined individually based on the results of hormone tests.
In order to determine whether the drug helped induce ovulation, an ultrasound is prescribed. The procedure is carried out a week after the start of the course of treatment. If the result is negative, then the drug is repeated in the next cycle.
A total of up to 6 courses can be used. If during this time ovulation is not detected, a repeat examination is carried out to more accurately determine the cause.
Often pregnancy occurs not in the cycle when Clostilbegit is taken, but after it. The effect of the course of treatment is long-lasting - hyperstimulation of ovulation will continue for another 2 years.
What is the probability of conception while taking Clostilbegit?
The likelihood of pregnancy during treatment with Clostilbegit increases only if the cause of infertility is correctly established - lack of ovulation. In addition, the effectiveness of the drug may be affected by the woman’s age, taking other medications, and concomitant (but possibly undetected) disorders in the endocrine system.
The likelihood of conceiving a child when using Clostilbegit increases with each subsequent course. When the drug is taken for 1 cycle, the chances of pregnancy increase by 10-13%. After the maximum permissible duration of treatment (6 courses), this figure reaches 60%.
Contraindications
Clostilbegit is not prescribed to women with renal and liver failure, visual impairment, metrorrhagia of unknown origin, genital neoplasms, galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency and glucose malabsorption.
The drug is also contraindicated in case of endocrine diseases: disorders of the thyroid gland, hypofunction or tumor of the pituitary gland, insufficiency of ovarian function with hyperprolactinemia. Among gynecological pathologies, endometriosis and ovarian cysts, with the exception of polycystic syndrome, can become an obstacle to treatment. Read more about the effect of endometriosis on female reproductive function→
Clostilbegitis and pregnancy (which has already occurred earlier), as well as lactation, are not compatible. In this case, and if hypersensitivity to the components of the drug is detected, it is contraindicated.
Side effects
When taking Clostilbegit, undesirable effects may occur. Some of them are related to the general condition of the body, others are related to the functioning of the reproductive system.
Common adverse reactions may include headaches, drowsiness and disturbances at night, depression or increased excitability, mental and physical inhibition, dyspeptic disorders, stomach pain, weight gain, frequent urination, allergic skin rashes, and decreased vision. There is pain on palpation mammary glands.
The following disorders are possible on the part of the reproductive system:
- dysmenorrhea – severe pain during menstruation;
- menorrhagia – prolonged and heavy menstrual bleeding;
- enlarged ovaries, including due to cysts;
- pain in the lower abdomen.
With long-term use of Clostilbegit, there is a risk of ovarian hyperstimulation with the formation of cysts and ruptures. Sometimes premature depletion of the ovaries is possible, resulting in early menopause.
According to recent studies, when pregnancy occurs after taking Clostilbegit, in 20% of cases it ends in spontaneous abortion, including due to the ectopic location of the ovum.
It is important to know that the pronounced antiestrogenic effect of the drug not only promotes pregnancy, but can also prevent it. In order for sperm to enter a woman’s body, survive and reach the egg, a favorable environment is necessary.
It is created thanks to cervical mucus produced under the influence of estrogen. Their deficiency negatively affects not only the survival of sperm, but also the quality of the endometrium (the inner layer of the uterus), the integrity and thickness of which are important for successful implantation of the fertilized egg.
How to take Clostilbegit?
Treatment with Closilbegit begins after the woman’s lack of ovulation is accurately established. The process occurs in several stages:
- Before the expected onset of ovulation, 1 tablet (50 mg) is prescribed before bedtime. You can start taking it between the second and fifth days of the menstrual cycle. Course duration – 5 days. After its completion, an ultrasound is performed to monitor the results: the rate of increase in follicles is monitored. If the largest of them has reached a size of 20-25 mm, then the hCG drug (Gonacor, Ovitrel, Profazi, etc.) is injected. This procedure is necessary to prevent regression of follicles and the formation of cysts in them. Ovulation occurs approximately within 24 hours after the injection; this must be taken into account when planning sexual intercourse.
- After the onset of ovulation has been confirmed by ultrasound, gestagens (Utrozhestan, Duphaston) are prescribed. Exactly two weeks after the release of the egg, blood is drawn to determine the level of hCG and pregnancy.
Clostilbegit can also be prescribed to men. Indication – reduced number of sperm in the ejaculate. Most often, the dosage is 50 mg (1 tablet) 1 or 2 times a day. The course of treatment is 6 weeks. The results must be monitored using a spermogram.
Multiple pregnancy as a result of taking Clostilbegit
Clostilbegitis and pregnancy with multiple fetuses are closely related. The drug stimulates the ovaries, resulting in the maturation of not one, but two eggs. When they are fertilized, two embryos develop in the woman’s body at once - twins. Children differ in appearance and may be of different genders.
The probability of multiple pregnancy is about 3%. When carrying out hormonal stimulation with Clostilbegit, it increases to 5-10%.
This feature is noted in the annotation for the drug. Two fertilized eggs can be detected by ultrasound performed no earlier than 4-5 weeks.
Clostilbegit is a drug that stimulates follicle growth and egg maturation. It can promote pregnancy if the cause of infertility is lack of ovulation. But you can take it only as prescribed by a doctor.
The course of treatment is a complex step-by-step process that requires additional medications and monitoring using ultrasound. Improper use of Clostilbegit can lead to the formation of cysts, ovarian rupture, early menopause and other complications.

How to take Clostilbegit when stimulating ovulation?
In difficult situations, when several years ago doctors made a sad and hopeless diagnosis of “infertility,” modern specialists prescribe Clostilbegit (analogue – Clomiphene or Clomiphene citrate). It helps you get pregnant successfully and give birth to a healthy baby. Women who are faced with this problem and this drug for the first time have many questions. What kind of medicine is this and how to use it correctly? How does Clostilbegit help when planning pregnancy? How does it work?

- obstruction of the fallopian tubes;
- inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs;
- endometriosis;
- lack of the hormone progesterone;
- lack of ovulation;
- abnormalities of the uterus;
- pathology of the appendages (including PCOS - polycystic ovary syndrome);
- coagulation shifts;
- endocrine pathology (including excess weight, thyroid disease).
Although ovulation disorders are not the main cause of infertility, often, having solved this problem, many find their long-awaited happiness. Modern medicine has in its arsenal medications that successfully stimulate the egg without significant side effects. One of the most popular drugs when planning pregnancy, according to gynecologists, is Clostilbegit.
This drug also helps with anovulatory infertility and is used to stimulate ovulation. Taking the medicine promotes the growth of the follicle in which the egg matures. Spontaneous pregnancy while taking the drug is observed in a fairly large percentage of cases.
Features of taking the drug
Clostilbegit is available in the form of white or yellowish-white tablets. The drug should be taken only as prescribed by a doctor after a full examination and identification of the actual problem. If there are no problems with ovulation and the menstrual cycle is regular, treatment begins on the 5th day of the cycle. Taking the drug helps a woman become pregnant in a short time.
When stimulating the egg, you can start taking pills any day. Therapy continues for 5 days with daily intake of 50 g of the drug per day. In this case, monitoring the condition of the ovaries is mandatory. Control is carried out using ultrasound. Ovulation usually occurs on days 11–15 of the cycle.
When stimulated by Clostilbegit, ovulation may not occur in the first cycle, so the medicine is prescribed for repeated use also on the fifth day of the cycle, but at a dose of 100 mg. If this attempt fails, take a break for 3 months. Then the doctor prescribes treatment for several more cycles (up to 6 cycles) at the same dosage. Self-discontinuation of the drug is prohibited!
Pregnancy may occur between doses of the drug or after a course of treatment. You should not make hasty conclusions about the ineffectiveness of the medicine. On the other hand, stimulation with Clostilbegit can bring special joy to the couple - multiple pregnancies. According to statistics, up to 10% of pregnancies end in the birth of healthy twins. The doctor will decide how long you need to take the drug when selecting a treatment regimen.
Points to pay attention to
Clostilbegit is the main drug prescribed for ovarian dysfunction. But by normalizing the ovulation process, it can increase the viscosity of the cervical mucus. Which, in turn, can prevent pregnancy by making it difficult for sperm to move towards the uterus.
Once again, it is worth mentioning observation by a specialist during therapy and strict adherence to the prescribed doses of the drug. If you violate the dose of the drug, instead of stimulation, the opposite effect may occur. Clostilbegit can cause hyperstimulation, which leads to ovarian hyperfunction - a dangerous condition that significantly impairs a woman’s well-being.
The number of eggs in the body is limited; due to hyperstimulation, ovarian depletion may occur, and menopause occurs earlier. Therefore, it is advised to resort to this remedy no more than six times in your entire life. In addition, hyperstimulation can lead to the formation of a cyst, which will also disrupt plans to get pregnant faster and cause other unpleasant consequences for the body.
Contraindications and side effects when taking Clostilbegit
The drug is contraindicated in the following diseases:
- liver or kidney failure;
- dysfunction of the thyroid gland and adrenal glands;
- endometriosis;
- ovarian failure;
- pregnancy and lactation;
- pituitary tumor;
- neoplasms of the genital organs;
- bloody discharge of unknown origin.
In this case, analogues of the drug or other available methods can be used to stimulate ovulation. The regimen is selected by the doctor individually for each patient.
While taking the drug, you should drive with caution, as side effects include:
- dizziness;
- drowsiness;
- headache;
- visual impairment;
- nausea, vomiting.
Klostilbegit and Duphaston
Ovulation alone is not enough for pregnancy to occur. Often the inability to get pregnant is caused by a lack of the main hormone progesterone. Therefore, along with Clostilbegit, hormone analogue drugs obtained artificially are prescribed. Duphaston is one of the most accessible and well-known drugs that replaces progesterone and is prescribed together with Clostilbegit.Duphaston has a positive effect on the body in case of hormonal imbalance and fights progesterone deficiency.
The drug should be taken only as prescribed by a specialist, strictly following the indicated dosage.
Usually prescribed 10 mg in the second half of the menstrual cycle (from 14 to 25 days of the cycle) for three to six months. To avoid miscarriage, it is recommended to take the drug even during pregnancy before the twentieth week. Utrozhestan can be used as an analogue.
Since the main component of Duphaston, Dydrogesterone, is very close to its natural analogue, it does not have a negative effect on liver function and carbohydrate metabolism. A contraindication to taking Duphaston (in injections or tablets) can only be individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Taking progesterone prepares the mammary gland for lactation and breastfeeding. Therefore, it is necessary to control and maintain the concentration of progesterone in the body at a high level. The drug is prescribed to pregnant women at risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy.
Unlike Clostilbegit, Duphaston is sometimes prescribed to pregnant women for purposes other than getting pregnant. Among the many effects of progesterone, its effect on the muscles of the uterus plays an important role: its relaxation, decreased tone, and the creation of favorable conditions for the development of the fetus.
The use of any drugs to stimulate ovulation is monitored by a doctor. Throughout the entire menstrual cycle, a woman needs to measure her basal temperature and monitor her well-being. In due time, you should take a blood test for hCG to make sure that pregnancy has occurred. You can do a pharmacy test without waiting for a missed period. If pregnancy does not occur, other medications are used (Metypred, Femara, Proginova, Dostinex, Divigel, Tamoxifen, etc.) Stimulation of ovulation with medications may be included in the IVF protocol.
Why may the use of Clostilbegit be ineffective? The problem may be caused by its improper use (not according to instructions), inadequate dosage, or the individual reaction of the female body. In particular, low AMH is not corrected by drugs, and stimulation in this case will not be very effective.
There is an opinion that the use of Clostilbegit and its analogues increases the percentage of ectopic pregnancy. There is no reliable data about this. If an ectopic pregnancy is suspected, ultrasound and diagnostic laparoscopy are performed.
The best way to get an idea of the effectiveness of the drug when planning pregnancy is through reviews of women who have taken it. Among the numerous enthusiastic comments and stories about how they managed to get pregnant, the name Klostilbegit is mentioned. There are situations when long-term use of Clostilbegit when planning pregnancy did not bring results. In such cases, and when the drug cannot be taken for any reason, a re-examination is carried out and other treatment is prescribed.

The drug Clostilbegit when planning pregnancy: what is it intended for?
Not every woman is able to get pregnant the first time. Sometimes it can take months or years to try. Clostilbegit is one of the medical remedies that help a woman become a mother. It is prescribed in cases where, for one reason or another, the ovulation process does not occur.
Taking Clostilbegit when planning pregnancy is carried out as part of ovulation stimulation. This is a hormonal drug that affects the growth of follicles. In the first half of the cycle, follicles grow in a healthy female body. This occurs under the influence of the hormone estrogen. Around day 12 of the cycle, a dominant follicle is formed. Then it becomes so large that its walls burst, and a mature egg comes out, ready for fertilization. This process is called ovulation.
In the presence of certain diseases, ovulation does not occur. Its absence can be caused by a number of different reasons. Among them are the following:
- Amenorrhea.
- Polycystic disease.
- Multifollicular ovarian syndrome.
- Menstrual irregularities due to nervous disorders.
- Infertility of unknown origin.
- Galactorrhea.
- Oligomenorrhea.
- Insufficient production of estrogen. On this basis, there is a failure of other hormones. As a result, the woman experiences long delays, breakthrough bleeding, and pain in the lower abdomen.
IMPORTANT! During the appointment, monitoring should be carried out using ultrasound. There is a risk of ovarian cysts.
Clostilbegit is one of the drugs that women take when planning pregnancy. In most cases, it is prescribed after infertility lasting more than a year. Other hormonal medications are also used at the same time.
It is necessary to take Clostilbegit on strictly defined days of the menstrual cycle, as prescribed by your doctor. Taking Clostilbegit helps follicles grow to the desired size. When this happens, the woman is given an injection of hCG, which causes the follicle to rupture.
The main active ingredient of Clostilbegit is clofimene. Standard packaging contains 10 round tablets white. A certain dosage of the drug stimulates ovulation. But in large doses, the medicine can inhibit the production of gonadotropin (pituitary gonadotropic hormones - LH, LTG and FSH).
Before you start taking a hormonal drug, you should undergo a thorough gynecological examination. During which, it should be determined that the reason for the failure to conceive is anovulation.
The use of the drug is indicated in cases where the total level of gonadotropin is below or at the lower limit of normal, the functions of the adrenal glands and thyroid gland are normal, and the size of the ovaries is not enlarged.
Before the procedure, the doctor must give the patient a referral to take hormones. Their level determines the required dosage of the drug.

How to use?
In each individual case, the dosage regimen may vary. You should start taking the medicine from the fifth day of the menstrual cycle and end on the ninth. Most often, one 50 mg tablet is prescribed once a day. Sometimes increased doses are indicated - up to two or three tablets per day. In most cases, one package of tablets is enough for one course of treatment.
Probability of multiple pregnancy
Treatment with Clostilbegit increases the likelihood of having twins. This is due to the fact that not one, but several eggs mature at once. This is especially true for women with multifollicular ovarian syndrome. Even without taking pills, they are prone to multiple ovulations. And during the reception, the probability increases significantly. According to statistics, 20% of women who undergo stimulation give birth to twins.
CAREFULLY! Stimulant drugs significantly deplete the ovaries. Therefore, you should not carry out stimulation more than five times in your entire life.
In this case, nausea occurs, headache, general loss of strength. But main reason refusal of alcohol is a possible pregnancy. Use alcoholic drinks at the planning stage can adversely affect the development of the fetus.

Clostilbegit for men
Sometimes Clostilbegit is prescribed to men. The main indication for taking pills in this case is the presence of oligospermia. This disease is characterized by insufficient volume of seminal fluid during ejaculation. This deviation can be determined by taking a spermogram. Oligospermia is one of the most common forms of infertility.
The active ingredient Clostilbegit has a positive effect on sperm quality. In 98% of men who took a course of pills for 5-6 weeks, sperm parameters significantly improved: the volume of ejaculate and the number of sperm increased, and the sperm became more active.
The dosage of the drug for treatment for men is prescribed by a doctor - andrologist or reproductologist, depending on the test results. Since the product is hormonal, it must be taken with extreme caution and only after consultation with a specialist. Otherwise, instead of benefit, you may end up with serious problems with sexual function.
- Possibility of hyperstimulation.
- Painful sensations in the lower abdomen.
- Ectopic pregnancy.
- Apoplexy of the ovary.
- Deterioration in general health.
- Mood swings.
The presence of certain diseases is a good reason not to perform stimulation. These include a woman’s predisposition to the formation of cysts, the presence of endometriosis, infectious diseases and bleeding of unknown nature. Even if stimulation in these cases leads to the desired pregnancy, everything may end in its interruption or fading.
The use of hormone-containing products is a kind of stress for the body. Under no circumstances should you take the drug without the advice of a specialist. In some cases, you may experience more harm than health benefit.
If the reason for missing pregnancies is unstable ovulation in a woman, then the doctor may prescribe additional stimulation with Clostilbegit. How advisable it is to take the drug, what are the results of stimulating egg maturation, we will consider later in the article.
If a woman’s egg does not mature, conception cannot take place. When a doctor prescribes stimulation due to missing ovulation, many women do not know what they are talking about and how it can help pregnancy.
Indications for planning pregnancy
If a woman has ovaries without established tubal obstruction, ovulation occurs once a month. This process only lasts 48-52 hours, but this is enough to conceive a baby. If for some reason the follicle does not mature and the corpus luteum does not rupture, the female gonad does not exit and pregnancy is not possible.
It is in such situations that a reproductologist or gynecologist prescribes ovulation stimulation.
The drug Clostilbegit suppresses the production of estrogen, which in most cases prevents the maturation of the female gonad and the maturation of the egg.
How does Clostilbegit work on men?
The use and prescription of the drug to stimulate ovulation is most often prescribed to women. However, if a man is diagnosed, the urologist may prescribe a course of treatment with Clostilbegit. Under the influence of the active components of the drug, men produce a larger number of sperm, and natural stimulation of the male gonads occurs.
Oligospermia is a disease in which the number of active viable sperm in a man's seminal fluid is less than 20% or less than 20 million.
Effect of the drug on women
For the female body, Clostilbegit is a hormonal stimulation of the gonads.
The concentration of estrogen decreases, due to which the number and rate of maturation of germ cells increases.
Ovulation occurs and several eggs are often released at the same time, increasing the chance of pregnancy.
While taking Clostilbegit, pregnancy with twins and triplets is often observed.
How to take Clostilbegit to get pregnant
The dose of the medicine depends on the reaction of the ovaries. If you have menstruation, start taking one tablet on the fifth day of the cycle (the first day of the cycle is the first day of your period). In case of absent menstruation, it is prescribed on any day.
When is it prescribed?
There are two dosage regimens (both start on the 5th day of the cycle):
- One tablet once a day (50 mg at one time) for 5 days in a row. Ovulation occurs on days 11-15 of the cycle.
- If the first regimen does not produce results, then take 2 tablets (100 mg) at the same time for 5 days in a row.
Men take 50-100 mg per day.
A course of treatment
The duration of treatment depends on the degree of complexity of a particular type of infertility.
If it was not possible to get pregnant during the first course (one course includes the first and second regimens), then the woman needs a break of 3 months before the next stimulation.
If the second course does not help, treatment with this drug is considered ineffective. It will not be continued.
Possible contraindications
In addition to the fact that the drug is not prescribed during breastfeeding, it is not prescribed in the presence of the following conditions:
- cysts in any location;
- endometriosis;
- lactase deficiency;
- liver diseases;
- pregnancy;
- neoplasms in the genital organs;
- adrenal and thyroid disorders.
Before taking the drug, the doctor is required to prescribe an ultrasound examination. Only after pregnancy has been ruled out can you take the medicine.
When does pregnancy occur after stimulation with Clostilbegit?
As a rule, while taking it, ovulation occurs on days 11-16. Pregnancy occurs within the predicted period, that is, during the first month.
If the first regimen does not work, the dose of the drug is increased. If pregnancy does not occur even then, then the next attempt will be only after 3 months.
Cases have been recorded where pregnancy did not occur during stimulation, but several cycles after it.
Unsuccessful stimulation after Clostilbegit: what to do next
If ovulation occurs for the first time and pregnancy does not occur, then a second course of stimulation is prescribed after menstruation. If menstruation does not occur, then additional medications with hormones are taken to increase the growth of the endometrium and subsequently to peel it off. As a rule, Proginova is used.
In a repeated course, a double dosage of the drug is used, after which, if pregnancy does not occur, then the use of the drug is further considered unreasonable and inappropriate. Other drugs with similar effects, but with different active ingredients, are used.
The drug negatively affects liver function, and therefore before the course of treatment it is necessary to undergo a course of examination of this organ. Clostilbegit is drunk if:
- the content of gonadotropin in the urethra is normal or below normal;
- the condition of the ovaries is normal;
- the functions of the thyroid gland and adrenal glands are performed in full. In contact with
- infertility caused by lack of ovulation;
- various forms of amenorrhea (lack of menstruation);
- polycystic ovary syndrome;
- galactorrhea due to a pituitary tumor (milk discharge from the breast not associated with breastfeeding);
- oligomenorrhea (infrequent and short menstruation);
- uterine bleeding associated with hormonal dysfunction.
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
- unspecified uterine bleeding;
- cystic formations of the ovaries;
- diseases of the pituitary gland;
- tumors of the genital organs;
- endometriosis;
- pregnancy;
- renal or liver failure.
- Amenorrhea;
- Post-contraceptive or secondary amenorrhea;
- Oligomenorrhea;
- Androgen deficiency;
- Anovulatory infertility;
- Galactorrhea, against the background of a pituitary tumor;
- Chiari-Frommel syndrome;
- Polycystic ovary syndrome.
- Ovarian cyst;
- Thyroid gland dysfunction;
- Neoplasms of the genital organs;
- Endometriosis;
- Liver or kidney failure;
- Metrorrhagia of unknown etiology;
- Visual impairment;
- Insufficiency of ovarian function due to hyperprolactinemia;
- Galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency and hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
- Tumors or hypofunction of the pituitary gland;
- Adrenal gland dysfunction.
- For 5 days, 1 tablet of Clostilbegit per day, conducting clinical and laboratory monitoring of the ovaries. Usually after Clostilbegit, ovulation occurs between 11 and 15 days of the cycle. If, as a result of the use of Clostilbegit, pregnancy does not occur, it is necessary to apply the second regimen;
- For 5 days, 2 tablets per day, starting from the 5th day of the next cycle. If ovulation has not occurred, taking Clostilbegit should be repeated. If anovulation continues, you should take a break for 3 months, and then repeat the treatment for three months. If pregnancy does not occur as a result of taking Clostilbegit, then further treatment with the drug is not effective. During one course of stimulation with Clostilbegit, no more than 750 mg of the drug can be used.
Greetings, my dear girls! We recently consulted a girl who had been trying to get pregnant for 3 (!) years against the backdrop of rare ovulations on her own and without success. At first it was not possible to go to the doctor (he lives in a remote village), and then it was simply scary to hear something irreparable. In today’s article I want to discuss with you the topic of infertility, and specifically its treatment with one of the drugs. When planning pregnancy, Clostilbegit increases the chances of successful conception by stimulating ovulation. The medicine is hormonal, which means it should be used with great caution.
Unfortunately, often in their desire to have a child, women are ready to take any means just to achieve their goal. Such risks are not always justified. Let's figure it out.
About the ovulation process
Ovulation and its importance during pregnancy planning is a primary factor. Let us remember how this process occurs, because without this knowledge you will not be able to understand the principle of action of Clostilbegit.
At the very beginning of the cycle, starting from the 1st day of menstruation, follicles containing eggs begin to form in the ovaries. As the cycle progresses, of all the follicles that have begun to develop, only one will reach the stage of maturation (with rare exceptions, for example, during stimulation). It's called dominant. Ovulation is when this mature follicle ruptures and the egg, ready for fertilization, is released into the fallopian tube.
With a menstrual cycle of 28 days, ovulation occurs on days 12-14. The egg can remain in the fallopian tube for up to 48 hours, waiting to meet the sperm. If unprotected sexual intercourse occurs at this time, the woman becomes pregnant; if not, the egg dies and is excreted from the body. Menstruation occurs and the female cycle begins anew.
I think you understand that without ovulation, pregnancy is impossible. This is where Clostilbegit will help us with the problem of ovulation.
Properties of Clostilbegit
It belongs to the group of antiestrogens. The main active ingredient in the drug is clomiphene citrate. It acts in a very interesting way: in small doses it exhibits its antiestrogenic activity, and in large doses, on the contrary, it exhibits estrogenic activity.
Do not rush to be afraid of unfamiliar words, I will explain everything to you. The drug affects the endocrine glands, which are located in the brain. In response to this effect, they begin to produce hormones that are necessary for complete ovulation.
Within 5 days from the start of administration, the amount of hormones estradiol, LH and FSH in the blood increases. They ensure normal maturation of the egg and prepare it for release from the follicle. I note that during treatment with Clostilbegit, several follicles often mature at once. So, my dears, you may well become parents of twins and even triplets.
An estrogenic effect can be obtained by using Clostilbegit in increased doses. In this case, the medicine has the opposite effect on hormones. It acts on the ovaries in such a way that they begin to intensively produce estrogen, which inhibits the formation of gonadotropic hormones (LH, FSH, estradiol). Therefore, if you are taking a course to stimulate ovulation, do not exceed the prescribed dosage of the drug.
Indications for use
In most cases, the drug will be prescribed to you if you have the following pathologies:
In addition, Clostilbegit is used to prepare women for IVF. Stimulating the ovaries significantly increases the chances of successful fertilization.
In some cases, this drug is also prescribed to men - with oligospermia (insufficient number of sperm in semen for conception), with insufficient production of testosterone - the male sex hormone.
The use of the drug is permitted in cases where the total level of gonadotropin in the urine is within the normal range or slightly lower and palpation does not reveal deviations from the normal size of the ovaries.
Contraindications and side effects
Of course, such a serious medicine cannot but have contraindications. The hormonal drug should not be used for:
The drug is prohibited for patients with a history of galactose intolerance, with lactase deficiency, or with glucose malabsorption - the drug contains a large amount of lactose.
When treated with Clostilbegit in recommended doses, adverse reactions are rarely observed. Girls usually report slight dizziness, depressed mood, drowsiness, and headache. If you are intolerant to the components of the medication, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash may occur.
Enlargement of the ovaries, hair loss, and tenderness of the mammary glands are also possible. All these phenomena are reversible and disappear within a few days after the end of treatment.
The most serious complication is OHSS - ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. This is when the action of certain substances causes an increase in the permeability of the walls of blood vessels, the liquid part of the blood exits through the walls of the vessels into other cavities of the body - abdominal, pleural (around the lungs), in severe cases, pericardial (around the heart). The volume of blood in the vessels decreases, the blood thickens and this leads to thrombosis and deterioration in the nutrition of vital organs.
Reception scheme
Now the most important information, how to take Clostilbegit to get the desired effect?
Before the doctor prescribes therapy for you, you must undergo the necessary examination, based on the results of which he will decide on a treatment regimen. This includes ultrasound of the pelvic organs, mandatory folliculometry, ultrasound of the thyroid gland, hormonal studies, smears, and blood tests for infections.
Taking Clostilbegit starts on the 5th day of menstruation, 50 mg per day (1 tablet) for 5 days. We expect ovulation in 5 days. Monitoring is required - dynamic folliculometry.
If the diagnosis is amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), treatment begins regardless of the day of the cycle, at any time. Course – 5 days, 2 tablets per day.
If there is no or insufficient effect in the first month of use, the dose is increased to 100 mg per day (1 tablet in the morning and evening) for 5 days. If ovulation does not occur, the course of treatment is repeated in the next cycle; if ovulation fails again, treatment is interrupted for 3 months.
The maximum dose of the drug for each course should be no more than 750 mg, it can be repeated for another 3 cycles, if the result is again negative, the treatment should be considered ineffective in this woman.
If any side effects occur, immediately stop taking Clostilbegit and contact your doctor to adjust the treatment regimen.
Additional drugs
I have to disappoint you - situations often arise when the fact of ovulation itself is not enough for pregnancy to occur. It is important that the female body produces a sufficient amount of progesterone - it prepares the uterus for pregnancy, creating favorable conditions for the attachment of the fertilized egg.
If there is a lack of this hormone, doctors often prescribe drugs containing artificial progesterone after stimulation with Clostilbegit. The most famous of them is Duphaston. It is taken from the 16th to the 25th day of the cycle with a “classic cycle” of 28 days or after confirmed ovulation on any day - 14th, 30th, 45th, etc. You can read more about the ovulation schedule.
Medicines that stimulate ovulation lead to exhaustion of the ovaries, so at the same time you will be prescribed estrogen-based drugs, for example Proginova or Divigel. They will “soften” the negative effect of Clostilbegit on the ovaries and prepare the endometrium for conception.
Girls, try to read the current instructions on authoritative sources, for example on the website of the Vidal drug directory or the RLS encyclopedia of drugs, as they contain an uncut version and monitor the relevance of the information if the manufacturer makes any changes.
Pregnancy after stimulation
A large number of positive feedback both doctors and the girls themselves indicate the high effectiveness of Clostibegit as an ovulation inducer. About 40% become pregnant in the first month of the cycle, and ovulation occurs in 80-85%. With the combined use of the drug with estrogen-containing drugs, the possibility of conception increases to 70%.
I suggest you watch a short video (04:27) “Stimulation of ovulation: Clomiphene and Follicle-stimulating hormone”, provided by the Clinic for Reproductive Medicine in Amberg (Germany)
– a non-steroidal anti-estrogenic drug used in gynecology to stimulate ovulation in the treatment of infertility.
pharmachologic effect
The main effect of Clostilbegit is to increase the level of follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones.
The effect of the drug is due to binding to estrogen receptors of the ovaries and pituitary gland. If the estrogen content in the body is low, Clostilbegit exhibits a moderate estrogenic effect, and if it is high, it has an antiestrogenic effect. When used in small doses, Clostilbegit enhances the secretion of gonadotropins and stimulates ovulation; in large doses, it inhibits the secretion of gonadotropins. The drug does not have gestagenic or androgenic activity.
Clostilbegit is most often used in combination with other drugs that stimulate ovulation, in order to cause the maturation of one or more eggs.
Release form
are produced in the form of greyish-white, round, flat, odorless tablets containing 50 mg of the active ingredient - clomiphene citrate. Excipients: lactose, magnesium stearate, stearic acid, gelatin, talc, starch. 10 pieces in dark bottles.Indications for use of Clostilbegit
Clostilbegit is used for various diseases causing infertility:
Clostilbegit is used in men with oligospermia.
Contraindications
The use of Clostilbegit is contraindicated in:
Instructions for taking Clostilbegit
When treating infertility, the dose for taking Clostilbegit depends on the response of the ovaries to the drug. With a regular menstrual cycle, treatment begins on the fifth day of the cycle, and with amenorrhea - on any day.
Clostilbegit is taken according to two schemes:
For polycystic ovary syndrome, the initial dose of the drug is 1 tablet per day, due to the tendency to hyperstimulation.
For amenorrhea caused by the use of contraceptives, Clostilbegit is prescribed 1 tablet daily to stimulate ovulation. According to reviews, Clostilbegit appears to be effective when this dose is used for five days.
In accordance with the indications, men are prescribed Clostilbegit 1-2 tablets 1-2 times a day for 6 weeks, constantly monitoring the spermogram.
In case of overdose, vasomotor reactions, vomiting, nausea, visual disturbances, pain in the pelvic organs and abdomen and enlarged ovaries may develop.
Clostilbegit can be used simultaneously with gonadotropic hormone preparations.
The use of Clostilbegit during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated.
Side effects
According to reviews, Clostilbegit can cause various disorders of the digestive system - vomiting and nausea, less often - flatulence, gastralgia, diarrhea, increased appetite and acute abdominal syndrome.
After Clostilbegit, drowsiness, dizziness and headache may also occur. Depression, increased excitability and insomnia occur much less frequently.
Visual impairment, polyuria, urticaria, vaginal dryness, rash, pain in the lower abdomen occur quite rarely when taking Clostilbegit.
After Clostilbegit, complications of the endocrine system may occur - dysmenorrhea, hardening of the mammary glands, an increase in the size of the ovary, pathological uterine bleeding, and less often, according to reviews of Clostilbegit, pain in the mammary glands.
When Clostilbegit stimulates ovulation, the likelihood of multiple pregnancy, growth of existing uterine fibroids, endometriosis and ectopic pregnancy increases. Also, with Stein-Leventhal syndrome, cystic enlargement of the ovaries up to 4-8 cm is possible.
Storage conditions
Clostilbegit is available with a doctor's prescription (list B drug).
Shelf life – 5 years.
