Valentine's Day
- Valentine's Day - celebrated on February 14th. In Russia, this holiday began to be celebrated relatively recently - since the early 1990s. The symbols of Valentine's Day were cooing doves and hearts pierced by Cupid's arrow.
For Valentine's Day, many greeting cards are produced - valentines, from simple ones with touching images to complex fold-out ones. In addition, hearts for the holiday can be sewn, drawn, sculpted, knitted and even baked. The materials used to make hearts are also very diverse - it can be beads, shells, feathers, dried flowers, pieces of fabric, paper, fur and much more.
And of course, everyone knows that the best, most expensive valentine is a hand-made valentine, especially if it was made by a child for his most beloved people - his parents!!!

To make a postcard we will need:
Colored double-sided cardboard;
- colored double-sided paper;
- scissors, scissors with wavy lines;
- glue stick;
- a simple pencil.
Manufacturing technology.
Postcards are two-layer – one layer (outer) is cardboard, the second (inner) is paper.
1. We make blanks:
- divide sheets of paper and cardboard into two parts, and then each 1/2; fold part of the sheet in half;
- cut cream-colored paper into strips 8 cm wide, and red paper into strips 5 cm wide.
2. Select card blanks according to contrast (inner, outer layer). On one half of the workpiece, draw the outline of a half-heart and cut it out with scissors with wavy blades. Please keep in mind that the inner layer of the postcard is approximately 0.5–1 cm smaller than the outer layer.
You should get something like this for a postcard.
The outer layer of the card can be left rectangular in shape.
3. Cut out palms from cream-colored paper folded in half.
4. Cut hearts from a strip of paper folded into an accordion five times.
5. Prepare various decorations in the form of small multi-colored hearts and flowers (the flowers are made with a figured hole punch).
So, all the details are ready.
6. Let’s start collecting the postcard and designing it:
- two hearts - glue the blanks to each other (along the fold line);
- glue the palms in the center;
- glue the heart to the folded card slightly diagonally towards the center (coat one side with glue first, then the other and close the card, lightly pressing the gluing area).
The postcard is ready.
All that remains is to decorate it if desired. Like this.
Or so.
The outside of the card can also be simply decorated.

In 269, the Roman Emperor Claudius II forbade his legionaries to marry so that their family would not distract them from military affairs. But there was the only Christian preacher in all of Rome, Valentin, who sympathized with the lovers and tried to help them. He reconciled quarreling lovers, composed letters for them with declarations of love, gave flowers to young spouses and secretly married legionnaires - contrary to the law of the emperor.
Claudius II, having learned about this, ordered the priest to be seized and thrown into prison. But even there, Valentin continued to do good deeds. He fell in love with his executioner's blind daughter and healed her. And it happened like this: before the execution, the young priest wrote a farewell note to the girl with a declaration of love, signed: “From Valentine.” Having received this news, the jailer's daughter began to see the light. Valentine was executed on February 14, 269. Since then, people have celebrated this day as a holiday for lovers.

VALENTINE Prepared by Elvira Vladimirovna Khvostova, primary school teacher at the Volosovskaya Primary Secondary School
VALENTINE A Valentine is a card given on Valentine's Day.
The first written valentines appeared in the 15th century. But there are different versions about who was the first to write a Valentine’s card. According to one of them, the creation of the first written valentine belongs to the Duke of Orleans, who was in prison in solitary confinement and fought boredom by writing love letters to his wife. This happened in 1415. The first valentine of the Duke of Orleans has survived to this day. It is on display in the British Museum. According to another version, the oldest Valentine card dates back to 1477; it was recently discovered in one of the libraries in Great Britain. In this message, the girl asks the young man to prove that he really loves her. She reported that she would get her parents to increase the dowry, and he should marry her. On February 14, Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day is celebrated in many countries, and Russia is no exception.
The history of Valentine's Day Valentine The Holy Great Martyr Valentine was born in the third century AD in the city of Terni of the Roman Empire. Became a priest. In that distant, harsh time, the then Roman Emperor Julius Claudius II forbade soldiers to marry, so as not to be distracted from main affairs. But the young priest Valentin secretly married those who wished and was sentenced to death for this. In prison he met Julia, the daughter of the warden. Before his execution, he left the girl a letter declaring his love. This is where the Valentine cards came from. He was executed on February 14, 269. He was subsequently buried in Rome (according to other sources, part of his relics are located in his homeland in Terni and in the Church of St. Anthony in Madrid). It is symbolic that the date of execution of St. Valentine's Day coincided with Roman celebrations in honor of Juno, the goddess of love. Two hundred years later, Valentine was proclaimed the Saint of all lovers. Now this day is celebrated worldwide as a holiday of declarations of love.
Orthodox Christians have had their own Valentine's Day for more than 800 years - the day of Peter and Fevronia. At the beginning of the 13th century, Prince Pavel ruled in Murom. Times were wild, enemies lurked everywhere, and even honest women were often attacked by evil werewolves. This happened with Pavel’s wife - an insidious serpent began to fly to her. It’s clear that no one approved of this turn of events. And in a military battle, the winged wicked man was beheaded by the prince’s younger brother, Peter. For a long time no one could heal the Murom hero from his wounds. But a peasant maiden, Fevronya, was found, who, in exchange for a promise to marry her, very quickly brought the handsome Peter back to normal. This marriage gave her the opportunity to become a princess, and for him - to keep his word and go against social norms. And only after the wedding both realized that they had fallen madly in love with each other. They lived a long time, did many good deeds, and died at the same time, down to the minute. Meanwhile, in the city and in Murom...
