Once I watched the movie " Scarlet Sails", which made a strong impression on me
A.S. Green. When you read the story “Scarlet Sails” you are left with a bright and joyful feeling in your soul. The feeling of something bright, magical, beautiful approaching. Sometimes it seems that the bright, fabulous, beautiful, lofty can be unrealistic. But this work teaches you to do miracles with your own hands. Convinces that dreams come true, and it depends on ourselves. A.S. Green created his heroes, Assol and Gray, with strong and independent characters, cheerful and brave. Assol lost her mother early, and her father began making toys for a living. Surrounded by toys, kindness and loving father Assol's character has formed. And in life she encountered gossip and evil, which did not frighten her, but helped her become strong. Assol believed in a beautiful fairy tale about scarlet sails, in this way she tried to preserve a sense of beauty in her heart. Assol was very lucky that Gray found her. He, a dreamer by nature, understood her and her impossible dream. Gray created a miracle with his own hands.
I really liked the story “Scarlet Sails” for its optimism, faith in a dream. It inspires hope that there are people in the world who are able to hear and understand each other. Assol, who was accustomed to ridicule, escaped from the philistine world and became happy. The heroes proved that any dream can come true if you really, really believe in it, don’t betray it, don’t doubt it. After all, good deeds make us happy. And maybe some of us, after reading this work, will also become better, higher and purer in soul!
I understood one simple truth. She is in
to make miracles with your own hands.
A. Green
“Not only children, but also adults need a fairy tale,” said Konstantin Paustovsky. This is precisely the tale that A. Green composed, a seeker of the miraculous, delirious of the sea and sails, a man about whom legends arose from his first steps in literature. He wrote an extravaganza-fairy tale about how happiness is the work of a person’s own hands, that it is useless to wait for a dream - it must be boldly met halfway.
Scarlet Sails - first appears before us as a concrete object - a toy made for sale by Longren, father main character Assol. The famous collector of folk legends Egl, seeing an amazing toy in the hands of a girl - a sailboat with scarlet sails, told her an amazing thing: “You will be big, Assol. One morning, in the distant sea, a scarlet sail will sparkle under the sun. The shining bulk of the scarlet sails of the white ship will move, cutting through the waves, straight towards you... The handsome prince will put you in a boat, bring you to the ship, and you will leave forever to a brilliant country where the sun rises and where the stars will descend from the sky to congratulate you on your birthday. arrival."
The storyteller planted the seed of a dream of a miracle in the soul of young Assol. In the midst of colorless everyday life, she was supported by faith in a miracle, and her miracle came true. But Assol, with her dream of a prince and scarlet sails, lives surrounded by evil people - the inhabitants of Kaperna, absolutely insensitive to beauty. The inhabitants of Kaperna did not tell tales, did not sing songs, they thought only about everyday affairs. Assol also thinks about her daily bread, but her dream lifts her above everyday life. Green's characters are different from those around them. Residents of Kaperna live down to earth. And those who wanted to live differently sometimes could not withstand the pressure of the environment and broke down: thus, a good coal miner became a drunkard, who, thanks to Assol, was able to see the delicate paintings on the rods of an old coal basket. In the world of injustice in which Greene's heroes live, goodness is as unusual as scarlet sails.
The main conflict in “Scarlet Sails” is the conflict between Assol’s dreams and reality, between sublime nature and real life. The image of a sail has been used many times in Literature. The sail seems to be calling to unknown distances, where a wonderful future and happiness await the hero. But sails are usually made of rough canvas gray, and here - scarlet and silk. Such sails can be sewn, but in life such wastefulness is not often encountered. This is a miracle, but a man-made one. Scarlet sails are a symbol of a dream come true, the inevitable triumph of the forces of good over the forces of evil. Mentally turning to his daughter, Longren thinks: “In the future you will have to see a lot of not scarlet, but dirty and predatory sails; from a distance - smart and white, close up - torn and arrogant.”
The scarlet color takes on a special meaning in the work. Red is the color of life. Scarlet color for A. Green's heroes is symbolic meaning: he says that you can achieve the impossible, turn a fairy tale into reality. Scarlet sails are the work of man himself. Captain Gray will say wonderful words: “I understood one simple truth. It’s about doing so-called miracles with your own hands.” Scarlet Sails is a fairy tale that has come true, a miracle so simply made by a person for another person. Gray found his happiness when he gave Assol her childhood dream. Material from the site
The ending of the story sounds like a hymn to a dream, like a triumph of the spiritual principle in man. Greene argues that a person's path must be sanctified by a great cherished goal. She will give him perseverance and nobility in the fight against the adversities of life. Fairytale scarlet sails lead the reader to the conclusion that man’s high calling is “to do so-called miracles with his own hands.”
Many generations of readers read this wonderful fairy tale with enthusiasm. And every time Green convinces us that a person cannot live without a high dream, that every heart has its own scarlet sails. They approach the shore that awaits them, and every moment many hopes, big and small, are fulfilled.

Essay based on A. Green's story "Scarlet Sails"
A. Green's tale
I read A. Green’s extravaganza “Scarlet Sails”, the main characters of which are Assol and Arthur Gray. This work tells about Assol. Assol was a poor girl. Her mother died and she lived with her father. No one in the city liked them, especially their father. Her father used to be a sailor, and when he returned, he began to make wooden Toys. One day Assol went to the store to give her father’s toys to the seller, and noticed a very beautiful boat with scarlet sails in the basket. Assol lowered him into the water, and suddenly the current caught him and carried him forward. Assol rushed after the boat. The toy led the girl to a man who introduced himself as a wizard. He predicted to her that one day a beautiful ship with scarlet sails, on which a handsome prince would sail, would sail to the shores of Kaperna. A boat will separate from the ship to the sound of beautiful music. And the handsome prince will put her on a ship, and she will leave forever for a beautiful country. Assol was a dreamy girl and believed in this prediction. Since then, the city began to consider her completely crazy. But Assol didn’t care. She lived this dream. She really believed that one day a prince would sail for her under scarlet sails.
At the same time, Arthur Gray was born far from Assol. He came into a rich, wealthy family and could have lived a calm, balanced life, but he was not like his parents. Gray was thirsty for adventure and one day he ran away from home and joined a ship as a cabin boy. Arthur tried very hard, practiced, and after a certain period of time he became a captain on his own ship from a cabin boy.
One day he went fishing with his sailor. Gray saw a sleeping girl there. He really liked her. He took the most expensive beautiful ring from his finger and put it on her finger. Then he went with the sailor to a nearby tavern. There he learned about Assol and the prediction. He wanted to fulfill it.
In this a wonderful fairy tale, as in all others, a good and happy ending. Gray sailed to Assol under scarlet sails, put her on a ship, and they sailed away forever to a beautiful country.
This work can partially be called a fairy tale. Firstly, Green has an area that does not exist on the map, names that do not exist in this world. And there, as in all fairy tales, there is a happy ending.
There is another moment of magic in this work: the fact that the wizard’s prediction came true, although when he said this, he did not suspect that this would be exactly the case. He just wanted to please Assol. But, on the other hand, this is not about magic. After all, the main characters themselves ensured that the wizard’s prediction came true.
The essence of this fairy tale is that if you really believe and make an effort, everything will come true. Although this work is more about idealism, I believe that in the real world this is impossible. And in general, in this fairy tale everything is very simple, but in life it is not.

Today in class we are going to get acquainted with a mysterious and enigmatic country - Greenland.
This is an amazing country. Kaperna and Liss, Gel-Gyu and Pocket, Zurbagan and Suan... These words reek of something fabulous and mysterious. An unknown world with its anxieties and worries, love and hatred, with strong, courageous, honest and kind people will open before us.
And this country was discovered by an amazing writer, a man of difficult fate, Alexander Stepanovich Green. (Turning to the portrait) Slide 1.
There is a bouquet under the portrait of A. Green. Ours, the northern one, the kind you can give to a loved one. Fresh resinous pine branches in a blue glass vase. Green and blue... The green of all the Pinega forests, trodden by the romantic writer in exile, and the blue of the sky, and perhaps the sea, so distant and so attractive.
2. A story about a writer(You can assign students to prepare a message)
On August 23, 1880, a son, Alexander, was born into the family of the assistant manager of a brewery in the village of Slobodskoye, Vyatka province, Stepan Evseevich Grinevsky, a Pole exiled to Siberia for participating in the 1863 uprising in Poland. (Slide 2)
Soon the family moved to Vyatka. When Sasha was 9 years old, he was sent to the Zemstvo Real School, but he preferred adventure novels to his studies.
The boy was restless and mischievous. His studies ended when he ridiculed his teachers and mentors in poetry. He had to finish his studies at a city 4-grade school, which he graduated from in 1896.
Sasha, forgetting about everything in the world, voraciously read the works of Russian and foreign writers. Narrow-chested, thin, awkward, he was often subjected to ridicule, to which he responded with insolence and disobedience. For this he was often severely punished. No one could understand Alexander, and he grew up as a secretive, frantic dreamer. He was lonely in his family. He lost his mother at the age of 13, she died of consumption.
It just so happened that the first word he uttered was the word “sea.” And the sea, like a magnet, pulled Sasha towards it. After many hardships, he went to Odessa and with great difficulty got a job as a sailor's apprentice on the steamer Platon. Visited Sevastopol, Yalta, Feodosia, Poti, Batumi. Later, he sailed on a sailing schooner from Odessa to Kherson, and in the spring of 1897, as a sailor on the steamship “Tsesarevich”, he even went on a foreign voyage - through the straits to Egypt, to Alexandria.
(A. Zatsepin’s song “Sea, can you hear, sea..”)
Alexander was not physically strong and realized that he could not stand it any longer. He returned home, but could no longer live without the sea. Soon he went to Baku, where he took on any job, even the hardest and dirtiest, often went hungry, slept on the street, and did odd jobs. And again hunger, poverty and severe fever forced him to return home. However, having barely gained strength, he set off on foot to the Urals.
It was the eve of the 1905 revolution. The turbulent events of those years also captivated Grinevsky. He actively joined the fight. He was imprisoned for revolutionary propaganda. By a court verdict, Grinevsky was sentenced to 10 years of exile in remote places of Siberia. The 1905 revolution freed him from deportation. Soon he was arrested again, but he managed to escape. He came to St. Petersburg with someone else’s passport. Here he begins to write. His first work appeared as a separate brochure with the initials A.S.G., it was called “The Merit of Private Panteleev.” In 1907, his stories were published under the pseudonym A. Green. So he remained in literature as Green, and signed all his works and even letters this way. (Slides 3,4)
The teacher complements:
For you and me, northerners, this writer is also interesting because his work is connected with our northern region. In 1910, A. Green was arrested for living on someone else’s passport, sent to the Arkhangelsk transit prison, and then into exile to Pinezhye, then to Kegostrov.
On Pinega he wrote such stories as “The Life of Gnor”, “One Hundred Miles along the River”, “ Winter's Tale" and others.
Green called the period of Arkhangelsk exile “one of the most interesting pages of life.” He was enchanted by northern nature with its sunrises and sunsets, fogs and coniferous forests, bright starry skies and snowstorms, he was shocked by the beauty of the white nights. And people are strong, courageous, morally pure.
3. Reading an excerpt from A. Green’s story “The Mysterious Forest”
(The teacher reads an excerpt from Green’s story “The Mysterious Forest,” to which Green himself gave the title “The Hunter and the Cockerel,” where, as the author wrote, “the nature of the Pinega district of the Arkhangelsk province is depicted.”)
The forest became hillier, lighter and thinner, the road went up, then, rounding a round meadow heath, on the greenery of which there were islands of purple aconite, pockmarked sorrel, and along the white sandy scatterings - burdock leaf of groundnuts, fell steeply down the thick horsetail, to the shining depths water. From here began lakes with an area equal to four St. Petersburgs, a gigantic accumulation of water full of fish and birds.
…These places exuded a dangerous, silent charm. Tushin did not study them right away: for a long time the terribly similar borders of reed thickets, countless wooded hills rising from the water and hidden green lake straits made his head spin to the point of fatigue and fright, but he took a closer look at them, studied the signs - and now moved safely.
The water, clear, and at a depth of four fathoms, seemed like a greenish continuation of the air. The brown bottom was clear, in all its small details, protruding through the depths illuminated by midday, small shells, pebbles, something similar to scattered black grain, crayfish, brushwood sunk near the shore, sharply illuminated in the water by the sun, were distinct - it seemed worth extending your hand and take them. Reed floodplains rose to the top with greenery a yard high. The fish, passing under the boat, resembled a bird in the bushes.
Tushin turned into a long strait overgrown with horsetail. Quaying, the curlews rose, their sharp flight overshadowing the water with the nervous flutter of their wings. With a noisy rush, they flew around the castle-like island, black and white scoters, a narrow-eyed loon, having spotted a man from afar, screamed with a childish cry and disappeared. Blackbirds began to fuss along the banks; wagtails, jumping on trunks half-rotted in the water, vigorously shook their tails. A man was sailing on a boat, the birds were indignant.
Tushin did not touch the gun lying in front of him. He rode, sadly looking around and nodding his head in thought, with a soul full of sounds alien to human life, carefully listening to the warning cry of the guard bird and the objections to it from the birds, who, not yet seeing a person, were flirting or eating. At the end of the strait, a small stream-river silently connected with the lake; at the mouth, overgrown with willow, an otter darted out after rinsing itself; her muzzle, moving upstream, looked intently at Tushin. The hunter shuddered, raised and lowered his gun again: today the animal had the right to live next to him without fear of death. Slow red-billed gulls, crying sadly, played with the blue air; an elk swam out into the middle of the lake, touching its back with its horns, noticed a man and disappeared behind the forest; a water rat crawled like a black dot across the boat; In the distance, small as mosquitoes, swans appeared.
“Don’t be afraid,” said Tushin, looking after them, “I’m too lazy to swim.” 1
Question for students:
How did the romantic writer see northern nature? Have you felt her fabulous beauty and magnetic appeal?
The teacher continues:
In St. Petersburg, where Green arrived in 1916, he met Blok and Mayakovsky. Here, in the house of arts, he read his extravaganza (the meaning of the word on the board), his most famous work, “Scarlet Sails.” (Slides 5, 6)
It seems that “The Secret” is about to approach Caperna. Amazing music sounds from on board the ship. Assol, who had lived for so many years in anticipation of this meeting, hurries towards her happiness straight across the water. The “Secret” unfolds, the scarlet sails slowly disappear into the sea...
Where are the scarlet sails sailing? (Slide 7)
Let's go after them. And we won’t have to regret it, because scarlet sails lead to Greenland, the land of goodness and wonders.
4. Questions for students:
Why did they not like Longren and Assol in Kaperna? What were they like?
How was Assol raised?
Find and read what Assol looked like. What “special” did Egle feel in little Assol?
5. Dramatization of an episode from the work “Scarlet Sails” -
Assol's meeting with the wizard Egl
(The bells are ringing. A man comes out, he examines a small yacht with scarlet sails, a little distance from him stands a poorly dressed girl with a basket. These are Aigle and Assol. They are having a conversation.)
Assol(looking at Egle, timidly). Now give it to me. You've already played. How did you catch her?
Aigle(shuddering in surprise). This is something special. Listen up, plant! Is this your thing?
Assol. Yes, I ran after her all along the stream: I thought I was going to die. Was she here?
Aigle. At my very feet. The yacht, abandoned by the crew, was thrown onto the sand by a three-inch shaft (gives away the toy). What's your name, baby?
Assol. Assol. (Hides the toy in the basket)
Aigle. This is good. Sitting on a rock, I was engaged in a comparative study of Finnish and Japanese stories... when suddenly a stream splashed out this yacht, and then you appeared... Just as you are. I, my dear, am a poet at heart, although I have never composed anything myself. What's in your basket?
Assol. Boats, then a steamer and three more of these houses with flags. Soldiers live there.
Aigle. Great. You were sent to sell. You let the yacht sail, but it ran away. It is so?
Assol(incredulously). Have you seen it? Did someone tell you? Or did you guess right?
Egle. I knew it.
Assol. But what about it?
Egle. Because I am the most important wizard! You have nothing to fear from me. On the contrary, I want to talk to you to my heart's content. Come on, Assol, listen to me carefully. I was in the village where you must be coming from, in a word, in Kaperna. I love fairy tales and songs, and I sat in that village all day, trying to hear something no one had heard. But you don’t tell fairy tales, don’t sing songs. I don’t know how many years will pass, only one fairy tale will bloom in Kaperna. You will be big, Assol. One morning, in the distance of the sea, a scarlet sail will sparkle under the sun. The shining bulk of the scarlet sails of the white ship is moving, cutting through the waves, straight towards you. This ship will sail quietly. A lot of people will gather on the shore, wondering and gasping, and you will stand there. The ship will approach majestically to the very shore to the sounds of beautiful music; elegant, all in carpets and gold, a boat will float from her. Then you will see a brave, handsome prince, he will stand and stretch out his hands to you.
“Hello, Assol! - he will say. “Far, far from here, I saw you in a dream and came to take you forever to my kingdom. You will live there with me in the deep pink valley. You will have everything you want. You and I will live amicably and cheerfully.” He will put you on a boat and transport you to a ship, and you will leave forever to a brilliant country where the sun rises and where the stars descend from the sky to congratulate you on your arrival.
Assol(quietly, enchanted). It's all for me? Maybe he has already arrived...that ship?
Aigle. Not so soon, at first, as I said, you will grow up. Then...What can I say? This will be the end. What would you do then?
Assol. I? (hurriedly) I would love him. If he doesn't fight.
Aigle. No, he won’t fight, he won’t, I guarantee that. Go, girl, and don't forget what I told you. Go. May there be peace to your furry head! 2
(The bells sound again.)
6. Conversation on issues:
Did Green and the wizard Egle keep their word?
Tell us how Gray and Assol met.
Is there anything in common in the natures of Gray and Assol?

7. Work on the epigraph for the lesson
The epigraph to our lesson is the words famous writer D. Granina: “Green is one of the few who should be in your travel first aid kit against heart obesity and fatigue. You can go with him to the Arctic and virgin lands and go on a date, he is poetic, he is courageous.”
Do you agree with this opinion? Why?
8. Final word
“Scarlet Sails” is a fairy tale about making a dream come true, about how a person’s good will turned a dream into happiness - into real happiness. Both Assol and Gray, and many of Green’s heroes, are pure, faithful, noble people who live a bright dream, always believe in goodness, in miracles. “There are such miracles: a smile, fun, forgiveness and... what was said in time, the right word. To own this is to own everything.”
Indeed, everyone is capable of such simple but very necessary miracles. But what a pity! – we don’t always understand this: sometimes it’s too late, and sometimes it remains undiscovered. But in Greene, almost all of the heroes are capable of such miracles for the sake of Friendship, for the sake of Honor, for the sake of Love.
Greenland is a country of strong and courageous people, noble and kind, ready to do great things for the sake of their friends, who know how to truly make friends and love. Once you discover this country, you will never forget it. (Slide 8)
