With the end of school, a new and most memorable time begins in the life of every graduate - entering a university. It is at the educational institution that you will receive necessary knowledge in the chosen specialty, learn to express and defend your point of view, pass the exam for independence. All this can be brought to life by enrolling in the Ural Architectural art university, which many people call the academy out of old habit.
History of the educational institution
The Ural State Architecture and Art College, which recently became a university, was opened in 1947. At this time, training for the architectural field began in Sverdlovsk (the modern name of this city is Yekaterinburg). The existing Ural Industrial Institute began training future specialists. To carry out this activity, the university has created a department of the appropriate profile in its structure.
In 1967, a branch of the architectural institute operating in Moscow was opened on the basis of the structural unit. After 5 years, it became an independent higher education institution and changed its name. Educational organization became known as the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute. This means that the current academy (university) was created in 1972. It is from this year that the existence of the university is counted.
Modern period
In 1995, the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute became an academy, and in 2015 - an architectural and art university, which many people continue to call an academy out of habit. Today the university is considered one of the leading ones in our country. It trains specialists for such important areas modern life, such as architecture, urban planning, design, fine arts.
Residents of not only Yekaterinburg, but also other Russian cities enter the university. The fact is that an educational institution of this profile is the only one in the Ural Federal District. The Academy of Architecture and Art (Ekaterinburg) trains bachelors, specialists, masters, and graduate students. The university has over 2 thousand students and more than 50 graduate students.
Research activities
The university of art and architecture, located in Yekaterinburg, conducts not only educational activities. He is also engaged in research and innovation work. It is being carried out in several directions. Specialists study more deeply the theory and history of architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, fine art, technical aesthetics, etc.
The results of research activities are scientific articles, teaching aids, large-scale projects. Among the results of the university’s work, it is worth noting the methodology and theory of design for extreme conditions Far North, research on the influence of Claude-Nicolas Ledoux on the architecture of our country.
It is also worth noting that the Ural State Architectural Academy (Ekaterinburg) periodically participates in various conferences at the international, Russian and regional levels. The university uses new and relevant knowledge obtained at such events in the training of qualified specialists - urban planners, architects, designers.
The international cooperation
The university in question, like other higher education institutions, strives to develop international cooperation. It is very important in modern world. Thanks to him, scientific opportunities are expanding. The Ural Architectural Academy (Ekaterinburg) conducts joint research work with foreign partner universities located in France, Finland, Italy, Germany, and Azerbaijan.
Foreign delegations periodically come to the university to gain new knowledge and exchange experiences. The Academy, which has become a university, also regularly organizes trips for its representatives on business trips abroad.
The first step to admission: preparation
There are a lot of people who want to become university students, so special attention needs to be paid to preparing for admission. So, for example, courses are organized for applicants at an educational institution such as the Academy of Architecture (Ekaterinburg) at the faculty of pre-university preparation. Classes are conducted in drawing, composition, color composition, drawing, painting, graphics. Training in preparatory courses begins on October 1 and continues until May 31.
For those who want to plunge into creativity much earlier, it was created at the Academy of Architecture (Ekaterinburg). It accepts students in grades 1-9. For high school students, the school has created courses lasting 2 years. 10th grade students attend composition and drawing, and 11th grade students attend composition, drawing and color (or drafting).
Second step: choosing a direction
- "Architecture".
- "Urban planning".
- “Design” (4 profiles to choose from - graphic, industrial design, environmental design, costume design).
- "Folk crafts and decorative arts."
- "The Art of Textiles and Costume".
At the specialty, the Academy of Architecture (Ekaterinburg) offers only 3 areas of training:
- "Monumental and decorative art."
- "Graphic arts".
- "Painting".
Third step: studying entrance tests
Absolutely all directions require passing two general education subjects: either Russian language and mathematics, or Russian language and literature. Persons who have only completed school take the listed disciplines in the form of the Unified State Exam. For applicants with average vocational education Entrance tests are offered, which are conducted within its walls by the Academy of Architecture (Ekaterinburg). The Russian language is taken in the form of a presentation, and literature and mathematics - in the form of a test.
You need to take care of taking the Unified State Exam in advance. Registration for exams is carried out in schools starting from December 1. This procedure ends on February 1. At the university, entrance examinations are held in the summer. Information about the date of their delivery is communicated to applicants after submitting documents.
Fourth step: review the minimum scores
Not all 11th grade graduates who have passed the Unified State Exam can apply to a university, and not all applicants admitted on the basis of entrance tests can be enrolled, because there is such a thing as “minimum scores.” For each subject, a specific acceptable result is determined. The Academy of Architecture (Ekaterinburg) refuses to accept documents for applicants who have not reached a certain level, since an insufficient result indicates a low level of knowledge. At school, such an applicant would get a bad grade. Minimum scores for 2017 are shown in the table below. They may change slightly every year, so it is recommended to check the exact values with the admissions office.

Fifth step: submitting documents
The Academy of Architecture (Ekaterinburg) accepts the following documents from applicants:
- a copy of the passport (for Russian citizens) and a copy of documents proving identity and citizenship (for foreigners);
- a school certificate, a diploma from a Russian university or college, a document from a foreign state on education along with a certificate of recognition of education;
- 2 photos for admission without Unified State Exam results and the need to pass entrance tests conducted by the university independently;
- other papers (for example, documents indicating the presence of disability, absence of parents, victories in Olympiads).
At the university, applicants must additionally fill out an application. In it, each applicant indicates his first name, last name, patronymic, date of birth, passport details, writes information about his existing education, Unified State Exam results, fills in the fields in which you can list your individual achievements. The applicant's signature is placed at the end of the application. With its help, the applicant assures that he is familiar with the admission rules and documents available to the university, and agrees with the processing of his personal data.
Step six: analysis of passing scores
The period of waiting for enrollment results is very painful. I would like to quickly find out whether I succeeded in enrolling or not. However, there is no way to speed up the process of enrollment and announcement of results. During this period, you can only assess your chances of admission. To do this, you should analyze the passing scores for the budget, known for past years. For example, let’s take the year 2016, statistics about which were collected by the Academy of Architecture (Ekaterinburg):
- The passing score, adjusted to a 100-point scale, was highest in “Architecture”. It was 83. Competition in this area was high. 359 applications were submitted for 51 budget places.
- The passing grade was also high in the Urban Planning direction. This indicator was 80 points. 260 applications from applicants were submitted for 13 free places.
Over 70 were in such areas as “Design” (environmental design, industrial design, graphic design), “Graphics” and “Painting”. In other specialties, the indicator adjusted to a 100-point scale was slightly more than 60.
