ACCORDING TO THE STORY
G. TROEPOLSKY
"WHITE BIM BLACK EAR"
The moral education of the younger generation is the most important task of the educational process.
Recently, in literature and in the press, the theme of the relationship between man and nature has become very clear, a psychological, moral theme that cannot be ignored in the process of educating students. Writers started talking about the need to cultivate kindness in the name of saving nature.
“It seems to me,” said Ch. Aitmatov, “that literature should raise its voice not only in defense of nature in general, but also take care of that moral and psychological complex human soul, which is associated with the perception of nature."
A conversation based on G. Troepolsky’s story “White Bim Black Ear” requires an emotional and thoughtful attitude.
To get kids into an emotional mood, you can use: photographic sketches, landscape sketches about nature, as well as statements from poets and writers, for example:
- “Not what you think, nature:
Not a cast, not a soulless face;
She has a soul, she has freedom,
It has love, it has language.”
(Tyutchev). –
- “Education only develops a person’s moral powers, but does not give them: nature gives them to a person.”
(Belinsky)
- “understand the living language of nature, and you will say: the world is beautiful.”
(Nikitin)
Before reading the story, ask the children a few specific questions, for example:
- What role does nature play in the life of every person, and in particular Ivan Ivanovich? (Ivan Ivanovich)
- How can you explain the actions of Seryozha, Klim, Tyopka?
- What did communication with Bim give to Alyosha and Tolik?
- How did you feel when you closed the last page of the story?
- What do you think is the main idea of this story?
- What captivated you most about Bim?
- Why do you think Bim is a kind, loyal dog?
- What do you think about Bim's owner, Ivan Ivanovich?
- What did G. Troepolsky want to say to our contemporary?
CONVERSATION AND ANALYSIS
The conversation began with the question: “With what feeling did you close the last page of G. Troepolsky’s story “White Bim Black Ear”?”
The children's answers were very varied, they all indicated that the story evoked strong emotions and made them think about moral problems, that the guys are concerned not only about who to be, but also what to be. And in the story Troepolsky problem morality is seen as an important issue in life. Continuing the conversation, I suggest you think about the following question: “What, in your opinion, is the main idea of this story?” Here is one of the answers I liked: “Everything that surrounds us - people, land, animals, plants, birds - feels the need for a kind, intelligent attitude towards itself. And the only one who can help all living things is man. Kindness and compassion should know no boundaries in a person. This is the author's call to be closer to nature, because... man himself is part of nature.” (Basangov Sasha).
The guys correctly understood the idea of the story. The author himself defined the purpose of his work as follows: “In my book, the only goal is to talk about kindness, trust, sincerity, and devotion.” Then, I suggest the guys turn to the hero of the story - Bim. “What captivated you most about Bim?” What’s interesting is that the guys fell in love with him (Bim) so much that they completely forget about the existence of Ivan Ivanovich. Therefore, it was necessary to push the guys to the idea that Bim became Bim thanks to him, Ivan Ivanovich.
Therefore, the next question was: “Why do you think Bim is a kind, faithful dog?” and here the guys made me very happy. Answering, they unanimously come to the conclusion that “Bim was raised as a kind person and lived in the happy confidence that kindness is the norm of life, it cannot be otherwise. Bim firmly understood: doors exist so that everyone can enter. Ask and they will let you in. He's used to trusting people." So, gradually we came to the main, core question of our conversation: “Who is I.I.? What kind of person is this? According to the guys, Ivan Ivanovich is a man of great soul, and it is not surprising that Bim is a kind, faithful, devoted dog. He loves and understands nature. Friendship with Bim gave him moments of happiness in his loneliness.
Summarizing the guys’ answers, I drew attention to the words of a small lyrical digression: “There is a flower standing on the ground...”. These words can be completely attributed to Ivan Ivanovich.
Speaking of AI. I emphasize that the story of mutual friendship between Ivan Ivanovich and Bim, a man and a dog, enriches them both and makes them happier. Then I ask the guys to pay attention to: is everything as tragic as the tragic ending of the story? And we come to the conclusion that although Bim dies, his short life had a positive impact on many destinies. During the conversation, I was heartily glad that the guys spoke with indignation about the callousness of people, the evil who treated Bim cruelly. People who are capable of poisoning and torturing a dog can do the same cruelty to a person. This is how we gradually come to the idea that the cruelty of people comes from their indifference, and indifference is spiritual death: when the ability to sympathize, to sympathize with the suffering of others is lost, a person ceases to be.
And yet, I would not like to end the conversation on G. Troepolsky’s story “White Bim Black Ear” with Bim’s tragic death. Together with the guys, we read the words from the story: “AI seemed strange, very strange. two simple dog-catchers, when, getting into the cockpit, he said, as if to himself: “It’s not true. And spring will definitely come. And there will be snowdrops... In Russia there are both winters and springs.” What is the essence of this philosophical reflection of Ivan Ivanovich?
The guys correctly understand the words of the old journalist: “Like winters and springs, sorrows and joys, smiles and tears alternate in our human life. There will be more bright days if a person establishes harmony in the natural world, when kindness becomes a need for everyone, when there are no gray people, those indifferent, evil people.” Troepolsky's story is not only about kindness and callousness, nobility and meanness, but also about careful attitude to nature.
At the end of the conversation, I tell the students that we should not limit ourselves only to the story “White Bim Black Ear.” When getting acquainted with the topic “man and nature”, I suggest reading to them Ch. Aitmatov’s “The White Steamship”, B. Vasilyev’s “Don’t Shoot White Swans”.
There are works of not only Russian, but also Soviet literature, which not to read means to seriously deprive yourself. Such books must be read, more than once and in at different ages. They make you think about eternal truths and enduring human values.
"White Bim Black Ear": summary
In terms of plot, this is a very simple story. About smart dog, whom the writer and hunter took in, about his life with his beloved owner. The story is told as if from the perspective of three narrators: the owner, Bim himself and the author. Moreover, the author also conveys Bim’s impressions, but the style of narration changes radically. Childhood, hunting, communication with a wise and selflessly loved person - here happy life Bima before the owner's illness. This dog is White Bim Black Ear. The summary cannot give an idea of Beam's perception human world, about all the dog’s experiences, about all the misadventures that befell him.
Bim is looking for his dear owner and dies literally a few hours before he is discharged from the hospital. If you don’t read the book “White Bim Black Ear”, the summary will not help you sympathize with Bim; he will remain one of the dogs who were simply unlucky.
A film was made based on the story, which is now known even better than the work itself. It must be admitted that the director repeatedly used common melodramatic techniques. The film is a heart-warming story, while the book, if you read it carefully, is also a story about Soviet society. There are many like this: they got lost, found themselves homeless, abandoned due to the death of their owners or due to their irresponsibility. Not all of the “lost ones,” of course, are as smart as Bim, they understand words, they are as intelligent, but they all look at the world with the same confidence as he does. In the book, Bim, of course, is strongly humanized; he thinks and acts not according to instincts, but like a person. This is what causes such a strong emotional reaction.
The film “White Bim Black Ear”, a brief summary of which can be summarized in two lines, is a two-part series. And all of this is Bim’s misadventures, which are watched in one breath.
But while sympathizing with Bim in the book, is everyone ready to behave the same way in life? The work “White Bim Black Ear” touches and makes you cry, but does it teach anything? Or do emotions remain on their own and do not influence actions? Is anyone ready to adopt a stray dog? There are a lot of these in our cities, but for almost all people they only cause irritation. The book “White Bim Black Ear,” the contents of which many knew from childhood, taught kindness to absolutely not everyone. Why is this happening? Why don’t the most wonderful literature, the most exquisite ones, automatically change a person, simply because of the strong impression they made? In order to become kinder, more humane, it is necessary to carry out enormous internal work. Every new generation should definitely read books like this in order to learn to be more attentive to those around them.
One of the most famous works of Soviet literature is the story “White Bim Black Ear”. Reviews of the book by Gabriel Troepolsky are very positive: this work immediately brought the author all-Union popularity and fame. A famous film was made based on it, which received international recognition. The simple touching story of friendship between an owner and a dog immediately fell in love with everyone, so the story deservedly entered the golden fund of Soviet prose. The author was awarded the USSR State Prize, and the film was nominated for an Oscar.
About the plot
Troepolsky wrote “White Bim Black Ear” in 1971. Reviews of the book show that readers most liked the touching image of the dog. At the beginning of the work, we learn that they wanted to drown the puppy, but the writer Ivan Ivanovich took him in. He went out and left the puppy with him. Most readers note a successful start. According to them, despite the apparent simplicity storyline the author was able to skillfully convey the feelings and experiences of the main character, his gratitude and affection for the owner, as well as his attitude towards the world around him. From this point of view, many readers rightly compare the beginning of the story with famous work American writer D. London “White Fang”, which also tells about the formation of the personality of a wolf cub in the wild.
About Bim's character
Perhaps the most touching story about animals in Soviet literature is the work “White Bim Black Ear.” Reviews of the book show how much readers liked this work. They, of course, pay the main attention in their reviews to the main character. In their opinion, the writer managed to reproduce very truthfully inner world Bima and his character traits. The dog grew up very smart, quick-witted, he grasped everything literally on the fly. After two years, he was already able to distinguish about a hundred words related to home and hunting. But most of all, readers like the way Troepolsky portrayed the relationship between Bim and his owner. The smart dog was able to guess Ivan Ivanovich’s mood, as well as his attitude towards the people around him, by the expression of his eyes and face.
About the beginning of the conflict
The work “White Bim Black Ear” has a rather simple plot. Reviews of the book, however, indicate that readers liked, first of all, the idea presented by the author in his story: the theme of friendship, devotion, fidelity and at the same time the exposure of evil and betrayal. Towards the middle of the story, Bim meets an evil aunt who immediately dislikes the poor dog. She unfairly complained about him, despite the fact that even the chairman of the house committee himself admitted that the dog was not at all dangerous to society. This first encounter between Bim and an evil woman subsequently led to a sad ending.
Search for the owner
One of the famous Soviet writers is Gavriil Troepolsky. “White Bim Black Ear” is his most famous work. The main part of the story is the story of the dog's search for its owner, who was unexpectedly taken away for a complex operation. According to most readers, this part of the story is the most dramatic and heartbreaking. During his search, Bim experienced many adversities, met both good and bad people who treated him differently. For example, student Dasha and little boy Tolik treated him very carefully. The latter even managed to feed the dog, who refused to eat during the owner’s absence. A kind girl returned him home and attached a sign to his collar explaining the dog's history. However, after some time, he ended up with the collector of dog signs, Gray (a man in gray clothes), who treated him very rudely and kicked him out of his house.
Loneliness
Troepolsky presented one of the most heartfelt and touching stories to the Soviet reader. “White Bim Black Ear” is a work about the complex relationship between a dog and people. Very soon schoolchildren and city residents learned about the devoted dog. His acquaintance Tolya began to court Bim. Many children sympathized with the hero, who during the absence of the owner had changed a lot and lost weight. According to reader reviews, this is one of the saddest parts in the story. However, Bim was still looking for the owner. These searches remained fruitless; moreover, one day, sensing Dasha’s scent, he rushed after the train and accidentally hit the rail with his paw. And although the driver braked in time, the dog severely injured his paw. He had a new enemy - Gray wrote a complaint to the police that Bim had bitten him.
With a new owner
In the work “White Bim Black Ear,” the main characters of which form the subject of this review, actors are people of very different characters. After some time, the driver sold the dog to the shepherd Khirsan Andreevich. He fell in love with the dog, learned his story and decided to take care of him until Ivan Ivanovich returned. The shepherd's son Alyosha also became attached to Bim. And Bim fell in love with his new free life: he began to help the owner herd his sheep. However, one day the dog was taken hunting by the shepherd's neighbor Klim, who severely beat Bim because he did not finish off the wounded rabbit. According to readers, in these parts the author masterfully compared the good and evil characters of people through the perception of the main character. He fled from his new owner because he was afraid of Klim.
Denouement
The story “White Bim Black Ear” ends very sadly. The main characters of the work were both good and evil people. The boys Tolik and Alyosha began to look for the missing dog and became friends. However, Tolya's father did not want his son to be friends with ordinary people and had a dog, so he interfered with the search in every possible way. Meanwhile, the aunt gave Bim to the dog catchers, and he died in the van, trying to get out. Soon Ivan Ivanovich returned after the operation. He learned about the disappearance of the dog and found him already dead in the quarantine yard. Troepolsky is a true master of character portrayal. “White Bim Black Ear” (you learned a summary of the work from this article) is a touching story that, despite the sad ending, nevertheless leaves bright feelings in readers. Many of them note that the sad ending is partly brightened up by the description of the children’s friendship with Ivan Ivanovich. After some time, he took himself a new puppy, to whom he also gave the nickname White Bim Black Ear. The breed of the dog also coincided - Scottish setter.

Review of the read story by Troepolsky “White Bim - Black Ear” for students in grades 5–6
I I read a sad story. Troepolsky« White Bim Black Ear» .This book is not only about the faithful and completely devoted setter Bim, but also about good and evil people, about the relationship between man and nature.
The main character is the hunting dog Bim, he white with black ear and black paw, his other ear is red, kind and smart eyes. His owner was the kind Ivan Ivanovich, a participant in the war; he lived with a shrapnel in his chest. When he became very ill, he went to the hospital. From that time on, Bim's troubles began.
It is a pity that the dog could not understand the meaning of the man’s farewell words. Bim did not know where his good friend had gone; he could only wait for him. But he was very bored by the parting and decided to go in search of his beloved owner. It was dangerous journey to in which the dog learned that in the world there are not only good people, but also bad. The bad ones are Aunt, Klim, Sery, Semyon Petrovich and others. Kind and responsive people – Tolik, Stepanovna, Lyusya, Dasha, Petrovna, Alyosha; they helped Bim in some way on his difficult path to dear friend, although the dog's owner was not found. Bim continued to look for Ivan Ivanovich. During the search the dog became disabled: his paw was pinched on the arrow. Through the efforts good people Bim recovered. His new friend Tolik walked him, but his parents were against such communication. The evil guy hit the dog on the head and posted a notice that Bim was mad. He was injured by Klim, he even groaned like a man. .The nasty aunt sent good dog to the slaughterhouse. In his last moments of life, he scratched at the door of the van for a long, long time, until his last breath. Bim died from long torment and longing for my beloved Ivan Ivanovich.
But Bim’s life was not meaningless, it reflected good on many destinies - it made Tolik and Alyosha friends, Tolik’s parents changed their attitude towards Bim and allowed their son to keep a dog at home, helped Ivan Ivanovich find new acquaintances.
In his stories the author shows great friendship and mutual understanding between man and dog, as well as kindness, devotion and humanity. A person should always remain a kind person, capable of compassion. By humanizing the suffering animal, the dog Bim, the author shows people who have lost their humanity. .The writer revealed to me the inner world of a dog with all its experiences, joys and made me think about many things, about man’s friend - the dog, which is ready to serve faithfully, going through troubles and misfortunes. He calls on me and all people to love, take care of, and not betray them. This is what attracted me to this work.
I loved it story G. Troepolsky, it deeply touched my soul - it was sad and sorrowful, and there were tears in my eyes. I realized that in life you need to be a kind, fair and merciful person, like Ivan Ivanovich. People, please be like this!
When I read G. Troepolsky’s story “White Bim Black Ear,” I felt very, very sad. It's sad how evil and callous people can be.
You, of course, remember that at the center of the story is the story of tragic fate Scottish Setter Bim, left alone with troubles in this complex world. Having grown up in the apartment of Ivan Ivanovich, who surrounded the puppy with care and affection, Bim found himself powerless in the face of cruelty and hypocrisy.
Pensioner Ivan Ivanovich is an example wonderful person, who not only saved the unfortunate puppy from death (he let down his entire breed by being born with the wrong color), but also became a true friend for Bim, support and protection. Kind and humane, main character raised a puppy. And Bim turned into a good hunting dog. The naive, cheerful dog learned to understand people. But in the first part of the story, he was not very upset by the clashes with the neighbor who hated him, because the reliable Ivan Ivanovich was nearby. And Bim perceived the world through the prism of his owner’s intelligence, his love for nature, and his caring attitude towards the puppy. And Bim really appreciated all this, loved his owner, was devoted and faithful to him. Then it seemed that the bright and wonderful world around would always be like this.
How terrible was Bim’s disappointment when he was left alone. I read the pages of the story, which describe the dog’s encounters with heartless people, and cried. I felt sorry for the main character. I felt a sense of shame for the actions of adults. The shrill aunt becomes Bim's worst enemy for no reason. Her hatred leads the dog to a tragic death. The greed of Gray, a collector of dog collars, makes me seriously doubt his integrity. The cowardly Klim, who beat the dog for disobedience, leaves him to die in the forest. A tram driver makes money by selling a Bim that does not belong to him.
G. Troepolsky shows many such heroes, cruel, cynical, angry towards the dog. You become very disappointed in people when you read such works.
The little heroes of the story: Alyosha and Tolik, fell in love with the setter, but for various reasons they could not keep him. Bim experiences pain and resentment thanks to the attention and care of the boys, neighbor Stepanovna, and girl Lucy. Fortunately, Bima met good people along the way. But they could not save him from death. A grumpy neighbor who wants to clear the dog from her yard gets her way.
The sad ending of the story teaches us mercy towards animals. After all, they are always devoted and faithful to people. It hurts to look at abandoned kittens and puppies, at homeless dogs and cats. Behind each of them there are people who doom them to suffering.
The fate of the main character of the story, the Scottish setter White Bim Black Ear, reminds us that people are becoming cruel. No matter how the world changes, there is always a place for kindness and good deeds. And, to my great regret, our contemporaries are cruel both towards people and towards animals. But people can stand up for themselves! What about animals? Their fate is in our hands! We need to be more merciful and humane! And don’t forget that we are all “responsible for those we have tamed”!
